Either Side of the River

"Whatever you do work at it as though working for God and not for man." Colossians 3:23

You know, as I sit here attempting to study for my Archaeology midterm on Wednesday, this verse comes to mind. Then so does the thought, I just don't think God wants me to know about evolution. Too bad this is what the test covers. Then I asked Jesus about it, and He doesn't like the subject either. Thats a nice thing to know. God's always got my back on matter like this.

"I just don't think God wants me to know about evolution."I don't think that we should dismiss any subject (however unpleasant) that has an impact on our lives as Christians by choosing to be ignorant about it.

According to the verse, I think that studying a viewpoint that opposes Biblical truths is a good thing– We should know our enemy as he knows us, so that we might be able to see through and expose his lies. The devil knows scripture, right? An effective general in wartime will know his enemy and thus be more effective at countering and fighting off his attack. This ought to hold true in our spiritual battle against the powers and principalities– we should recognize the steps they will take and arguments our opponents will hurl against us.

There are more important things to study (like Colossians), but there's no reason to be afraid of studying the theory of evolution.

I really don't think that God would like us to be ignorant. We can have knowledge as well as faith, as long as we don't start valuing the wrong one more. I don't question your ability to discern God's will in your life, but I really hope that you would think more about this and how you can serve God in learning about evolution.

Good luck on your midterm!

Hey Steph,
I agree with Ben, that it is good to learn about, and see where it just cannot stand up against the bible.
If you need information, there are many great books out there, I just read one called "Refuting Evolution" by a guy with his phd. There is definately plenty of information out there for intelligent design a.k.a. a creator a.k.a The Lord. Other books on the subject are Darwin's Black box, and other I am sure. I watched a movie this fall on Intelligent Design, and in a letter that Darwin wrote to a friend of his, he said, it in the future, science can prove that there are too complex of organs to have randomely come about, then my theory would be dead. We have, examples are flegella motor, DNA (we all have it now, but somehow the first did not, cannot be explained away. I have a great list of information I got here at Master Plan Ministries, I will forward it to you. I hope you have a good day.
